I’ve been teaching at MCHS for 20 years. I am in the Career & Technical Education Department, teaching classes in both the Agricultural and Industrial Technology programs.
I sponsor the TSA (Technology Students Association) where we compete at local and state events in robotics and technology challenges.
I enjoy many activities and hobbies. Summer of 2010, I traveled to Ireland. I spent a wonderful week over there visiting Counties Cork and Kerry in the southwestern region. Staying at Bed and Breakfasts, I wandered through many of the fascinating historical sites in the region. I have since returned in 2016, and wandered down to the Skelligs where they filled the several scenes from the recent Star Wars movies. I have also managed to visit to all 50 states, several provinces in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Philippines, South Korea and Japan.
I have currently have 3 Shetland Sheepdogs (Duncan, McTavish, and Shayleigh) who are agility trained and we compete at various events throughout the area. Duncan has qualified and competed in two recent CPE Nationals Agility Events, earing placements in various events. I also have Scottish Collie (Fionnlagh) who excels in rally obedience. Finn and I have started competing in both events. I am also owned by 7 Persian cats, including one who loves to go camping with me and the dogs (Theodore Francis Jackson).
A few years ago I purchased a travel trailer and load up the dogs and myself, along with Theodore to go camping. One of my favorite weekend places is Chain O'Lakes State Park up in Spring Grove, IL. I spend many weekends up there.
My favorite author is J. R. R. Tolkien who wrote Lord of the Rings. I’ve read every single book he wrote and those co-written by him and his son on the History of Middle Earth. Need information on elvish translations? Talk to me!
My favorite movies include Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, and many others. I enjoy Disney movies, action-adventure, comedy... and yes, those silly rom-com movies.
I have two masters degrees, one in Teacher Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, the second in Curriculum Instruction & Assessment from Walden University.
I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in November of 2011, and in 2013 I began work on my doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at Walden University.
